Schenker NV opens ocean freight office in Zeebrugge

New location provides local point of contact

(Antwerp, 17 January, 2011)
Since 3 January 2011, Schenker NV, the Belgian national company of DB Schenker, has a local office in the port of Zeebrugge.

The office will concentrate on customs clearances for incoming and outgoing goods, arranging for door-to-door delivery (possibly with temporary interim storage) and the delivery of the goods.

With our local presence, we can serve the customers in the West Flanders region better and create synergies with shipments that are intended for clients of DB Schenker in France,” according to Philippe Lambrechtsen, Product Manager, Ocean Freight for DB Schenker in Belgium.

In addition to more personal service, having a local presence in Zeebrugge gives a greater assurance of proactive and immediate follow-up of the goods, which will result in faster service for the clients.

Schenker NV in Zeebrugge is located in Koggestraat, in the offices of Anterist+ Schneider, a subsidiary of Schenker Deutschland AG, which concentrates on land transport, primarily focused on short-sea transport and automotive. The activities of the two companies are being kept separate.

Johan Vanhaverbeke, who will start the office up, has years of experience in customs, forwarding, and line agency, the last four years with DHL Global Forwarding in Zeebrugge.

Schenker
NV employs 525 employees in six locations: Antwerp (corporate office and ocean freight activities), Brucargo (air freight), Mechelen (land transport), Waregem (land transport), Willeboek (logistics and supply chain management) and Zeebrugge (ocean freight).
