“Due to its perfect location in the ‘Euregio’ part of Eastern Belgium, at the crossroads between Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg, and Germany, we regard this as an excellent opportunity to offer local customers our wide range of services and give our existing customers a better geographical operating radius,” stresses Ulrich Pütz, Managing Director of Schenker NV. “The Heck Group’s years of experience in international transport and logistics are complimentary to our own strong DB Schenker network and mean more proximity to the customer in the region.”
The Heck Group is a family company with five generations of transport and logistical knowledge. The 130 employees achieve an annual turnover of approximately 14 million Euros. The company owns 36 trucks, most of them are high volume trucks for international transport, and 16 distribution vehicles. The logistics activities will take place in three warehouses with a total capacity of approximately 60,000 square meters.
“I’m very satisfied that an organisation such as DB Schenker should add our activities to its portfolio. This will allow the Heck Group to provide a broader range of services, such as ocean and air freight, and enable our existing activities to be part of a large European and worldwide network. I’m sure this will give a big boost to all of our activities being good for our employees and customer,” said Freddy Heck, President of the Board of the Heck Group. The Heck family members will relinquish their shareholdership in the company. The existing management will remain in place.
Schenker NV is the Belgian branch of DB Schenker Logistics and employs 655 staff at seven sites: Antwerp (corporate office and ocean freight activities), Brucargo (air freight), Eupen (land transport and logistics), Mechelen (land transport), Waregem (land transport and air freight), Willebroek (contract logistics and supply chain management) and Zeebrugge (ocean freight).
