Since the late summer of last year the company has built an ultra-modern cross-dock terminal alongside the existing building in Eupen, with the most environment-friendly and energy-efficient facilities. The 16,000 sq.m.-terminal has 2,300 sq.m. logistics space as well as 10,000 pallet locations. DB Schenker Logistics is now able to offer all its customers in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion capacity for logistics services with added value with a cross-docking capacity of about 2,700 sq.m. and 38 docks. As of Monday 130 employees will be working in the terminal.

“Thanks to the expansion of our capacity here in Eupen we can tap into new growth potential for our customers as well as establishing a perfect link with our European road transport network” said Dr Hansjörg Rodi, Chairman of the Board of Schenker Deutschland AG and responsible for DB Schenker Logistics’ Central Europe Region. "With our combined expertise we are able to create custom and innovative logistical solutions with direct international traffic to a large number of economically important regions.”

“In Aachen the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule will be occupying our facilities, i.e. we are making way for research and science”, Ulrich Pütz, Managing Director of Schenker N.V in Belgium explained. "The location of our new Euroregion facility in Eastern Belgium provides us with a perfect launch pad to the neighbouring countries, i.e. Germany, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.”

With its head office in Antwerp Schenker N.V is a leading provider of integrated logistics services in the Belgian market, employing a workforce of 655 staff at eight sites: Antwerp, Brucargo, Brussels, Eupen, Mechelen, Waregem, Willebroek and Zeebrugge.
