DB Schenker and SportsTechnology Club partner for the development of international sports business

(Antwerp/Brussels, December 5, 2014)
Schenker nv and the SportsTechnology Club have signed a partnership deal to identify and create more synergies in the development of their international sports business. The SportsTechnology Club is a joint initiative between Agoria, the federation of more than 1,700 technology companies in Belgium, and The Belgian Olympic & Interfederal Committee. As a market leader in logistics for fairs, exhibitions and sporting events, DB Schenker has been the official logistics partner at numerous sports competitions all over the world over the last few decades. One major example is the long tradition of DB Schenker’s commitment to the Olympic Games: from the Munich Olympic Games in 1972 to the most recent Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

“We are convinced that our new partnership constitutes a powerful winning team for global sports events. That’s why we are very excited about working with the SportsTechnology Club,” states Annegret Müller, Fairs & Events Manager of DB Schenker in Belgium. “It reflects our interest in collaborating with companies that share our vision of global expansion.” Teaming up with Agoria’s SportsTechnology Club allows Schenker nv to identify the specific logistics needs of each member, from the pre-planning phase through to the realization of any sports event.

Besides bringing together Belgian technology companies focused on the international sporting scene, the SportsTechnology Club provides them with business intelligence, increases their visibility and offers effective support in seizing their international business opportunities. “As a liaison contact between the Sports Technology Club and our dense global DB Schenker network, we can guarantee impeccable follow-up of any requirements and provide individualized hands-on professional logistics advice,” adds Annegret Müller. “This is a more efficient approach to executing the projects for each member.”

“With regard to DB Schenker’s extensive global expertise in logistics for major sporting events, Schenker nv is the perfect partner for us. This agreement exemplifies their dedication to developing and implementing specialized logistics concepts tailored to the special needs of our members,” says Sylvie Kedzierski, Business Development Manager of Agoria’s SportsTechnology Club.

Based in Antwerp, Schenker nv is one of the Belgian market’s leading integrated logistics service providers and employs 680 staff at eight branches: Antwerp, Brussels, Eupen, Mechelen, Zwevegem, Willebroek, Zaventem and Zeebrugge. DB Schenker Logistics supports industry and trade in the global exchange of goods combining Land Transport, Air and Ocean Freight, Contract Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Its fairs and exhibitions department is centralized at Brussels Airport, from where Schenker nv offers the full range of transportation and logistics services for trade fairs, exhibitions and sports events.
