EU low-sulphur surcharge

The new EU low-sulphur directive (MARPOL), demands for a reduction of Sulphur emission on all vessels operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA): Baltic Sea, North Sea and the English Channel.

To meet this demand, which responds to the environmental situation in the North and Baltic sea, the shipping lines have to use expensive filters (scrubbers) or purchase a lower sulphur fuel. 

As both options are significantly more expensive, this means additional costs on all transports involving seafreight as from/to/within and between the English Channel, North Sea and Baltic Sea.

The surcharge is calculated on the taxable weight of your shipments as from 1st of January 2015 and the cost will be added to the invoice by a separate code (572=Low Sulphur Surcharge).

To keep it as simple as possible, we have one tariff per country for outbound and inbound.
The surcharge will be evaluated on a monthly basis:
