As of April 1, MAUT will be introduced on motorways, regional and municipal roads in Belgium. Consequently, vehicles travelling through Belgium will be charged extra.
The principle of the system is that ‘the user pays'. This way, everyone makes a fair contribution for using the roads. The MAUT is calculated using an OBU (on board unit) in the truck.
The MAUT replaces the existing Eurovignette for trucks in Belgium. Besides this toll, the annual road tax for the indicated vehicles continues to exist.
